Skrillex: Winner of 3 Grammys at the 54th Grammys

The 54th edition of the Grammys took place today on February 12, 2012 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The Grammys are dubbed as the biggest night in music, however there is little love for electronic music with only a few categories dedicated to the genre. Skrillex was nominated for 5 Grammy Awards including Best New Artist, Best Dance Recording, Best Dance/Electronica Album, Best Remixed Recording (Non-Classical) and Best Short Form Music Video. David Guetta, Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Deadmau5 and Afrojack were just a few of the others nominated for an award.

Skrillex won the award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical for the track “Cinema.” Skrillex also won Best Dance Recording and Best Dance/Electronica Album for his second EP Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites. Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep” won the Best Short Form Music Video category in which Skrillex’s “First Of The Year (Equinox)” music video was nominated. Skrillex won 3 of 5 categories that he has been nominated for thus far. The remaining category “Best New Artist” will be announced later on in the night.
